Case Study
Client:- New Zealand VIP Business Jet Interiors Company – Altitude Aerospace Interiors.
Project:- B777 Crew Rest
SWS supported the New Zealand based Altitude Aerospace Interiors (Altitude) with an European STC for a Crew Rest module on the main deck of a B777 aircraft. A strong and effective working relationship has emerged between these companies, combining the recognised design capabilities of Altitude and the certification capabilities of SWS to provide Altitudes’ customer airline with an EASA approved STC. This unique installation required Special Regulatory Conditions to demonstrate an equivalent level of safety to the more common types of overhead or below passenger cabin installations. The main deck crew rest design provided Altitude’s customer with something different, minimising space, thereby giving them an edge on their competition. With this established relationship SWS and Altitude can respond to the requirements of a global market place, offering New Zealand, European and USA airworthiness approvals.

Harmonising recognised skills and supporting Altitude with providing one of their discerning BBJ operators with a good quality service within a demanding environment.

Client:- UK Helicopter Distributor-Sloane Helicopters.
Project:- Flight Test Instrumentation on the Agusta A109E Power
The flight data acquisition system (DAS) would provide a training platform for test pilots on the Agusta A109 Power aircraft designed around modular equipment and instrumentation located internal and external to the aircraft. Typically the system would capture and manage flight data including performing maths functions, PC communications as well as video and audio recorder control to act as a teaching aid for test pilot and test engineer students to be taught flight test techniques, demonstrate specific responses and characteristics and perform assessments of the aircraft systems.
SWS provided the certification expertise to the design including Rear Observer’s seat and workstation and DAS equipment rack, stress and structural evaluation and verification and supported the qualification of the avionics to meet the appropriate industry standards with the installation being carried out and commissioned at the Sloane Helicopters Ltd facility at Sywell, Northampton.
