SWS Certification Services Ltd move to Nastran FEM Software.
SWS Certification Services Ltd, an EASA 21J DOA based in Bristol, UK, has further strengthened its internal testing infra-structure by the recent acquisition of Nastran FEM Software.
In line with industry requirements, dictated by major aircraft manufacturers, SWS has introduced the use of Nastran, (which complements its use of NISA FEA Software,) to provide its clients with unrivalled airworthiness test analysis data relating to their interior structures (e.g seats, galleys, crew rest & toilet areas, overhead stowage units, medical equipment etc.)
SWS’ Structures Engineering Manager, Claire Korvalian Demarquet states:-
“Nastran allows us to perform interface load analysis which simulates the behaviour of an aircraft unit during emergency landing and flight conditions.Through the data it provides, we are able to extract loads at the attachments to the aircraft and calculate deflection of the unit. This information ultimately allows us to obtain a structure that is deemed safe with a design that can be certified.
Other benefits of Nastran are that it allows us to establish critical areas of the unit structure using Tsai Hill and Von Mises criteria and also to carry out windmilling analysis. The latter assesses to what level aircraft units can withstand vibratory conditions caused by an engine imbalance e.g. after a blade-out event.”
Please contact SWS for a quote if you need any Cabin Interior Certification or Approvals support (e.g. STCs, Minor Changes & Repairs). The company will also quote separately for customised “Nastran Test Analysis” to assess your structure in-flight. All analysis is undertaken by SWS’ experienced Structures Engineering Team.
